The Future of the MCU after Avengers Endgame

WARNING: This article contains Endgame Spoilers!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe began with Iron Man in 2008. 21 movies later, and we arrive at Avengers Endgame.

Avengers Endgame was an amazing movie. Within twenty minutes from the start, Thanos is killed by Thor - he finally aimed for the head. However, the ending of the movie was by far the most influential.

At the end of the movie, the Avengers brought back everyone who died after "the snap" in Avengers Infinity War. At that moment, the largest battle in all twenty-two movies began. Thanos and his minions fought against every marvel character we have seen on screen. It was truly incredible.

In the end, Tony Stark sacrifices himself to kill Thanos and his minions. I guarantee everyone who sees Avengers Endgame will never forget the line, "I am Ironman." The movie concludes with his funeral, where Tony Stark leaves Pepper, his daughter, and all the other MCU characters.

So, how does Avengers Endgame set up the future of Marvel movies?

The next Marvel movie is Spiderman Far From Home. In the Spiderman Far From Home trailer, we see Nick Fury discussing with Peter Parker. Now, what exactly does this mean?

Number one, Nick Fury is back in the MCU. He was at Tony Stark's funeral, and he was mourning with the rest of the Marvel characters. The fact that Nick Fury is in Spiderman Far From Home could suggest the Avengers initiative is not over. Therefore, I believe Avengers Endgame was just the end for Iron man and Captain America but not for the Avengers. Perhaps Spiderman will continue the Avengers Initiative.

Plus, many Avengers are still alive. At the end of the film, Captain America gives the falcon his shield and crowns him the new Captain America. Plus, Captain Marvel is still alive - maybe this film is not the end of Carol Danvers.

More importantly, I am most excited about the future of Thor. At the end of the movie, Thor joined the Guardians of the Galaxy on their space ship - it looks like Thor will be joining them in Guardians of the Galaxy volume three.

Tony Stark was clearly the main character of the Marvel cinematic universe. The first Marvel movie was Iron Man 1, as I mentioned above, and Tony Stark is the person who truly kills Thanos. Now that Tony Stark is dead, and Captain America is done with the hero business, who will become the main character of the MCU?

It seems like the main character of the MCU will become Star-Lord. After Spiderman Far From Home, the Eternals has been confirmed as an upcoming Marvel movie. In Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Star-Lord's dad referred to himself as a celestial. Therefore, Star-Lord is half-celestial. This is where things get truly interesting.

According to the comics, the Eternals were beings that were created by Celestials at the beginning of our universe. Therefore, Star-Lord may fill in the gap between the current MCU and the Eternals, making him an extremely significant character.

After twenty-two movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to prove successful and incredibly enjoyable. Let's hope phase four of the Universe proves to be just as successful as the first three.
